Siloam News

SILOAM — During the weekend our community received more than two inches of rain! That was a blessing.

‘Course it made the greens grow faster and faster. No one is complaining so far!

Papa Bob and the writer had so much fun last week. We gathered the pumpkins! Now that really is not a fun job. But lots of folks are happy, because they want pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.

Flowers were placed in our church on Sunday by Joyce Fulk in memory of her husband Don. They were beautiful mums.

Part of our morning worship service was an ordination of a new deacon. Mr. Ritchie Day was ordained in a beautiful ceremony. Rev. Bill Faw, our pastor and Rev. Jimmy Cain, a former pastor challenged Ritchie on the duties of a deacon and the family members and congregation on their duties. This was followed by the laying on of hands of other deacons. Very impressive.

Our church(Baptist) will be observing Homecoming on Sunday. We will have special music during the morning service, and then lunch in the Fellowship Hall.

Several folks are still on the sick list at church, so I will list their names: Drew Cain, Billy Hayes, Junior Miller, Bonnie Poindexter, Ethel Smith, Mae Crissman and Patsy Norman. Please remember these folks.

The youth at our church, AND lots of their friends had a “lock-in” at church recently. According to my source of information they dozed early the next morning!
