EJ Marshall and Genny Preston were married Saturday Oct. 8, at Woodbine Baptist Church in Mayodan. The couple were married by Pastor Mark Harper in a beautiful ceremony centered around God’s direction for marriage. The wedding was followed by a lovely reception with family and friends. Cricket Hill is EJ’s mother.

This year early voting in Stokes County will begin on Oct. 20 at the Danbury office and King and Walnut Cove will open its doors on the 27.

There is a fundraiser for Kim Hall, Tim’s wife. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14 and 15 at 401 Butler St. in Pilot Mountain. There will be yard sale items, crafts, baked goods and a raffle. Donations are welcome. Tina Collins will be one of the people participating in this yard sale. She wants you to know to come.

There is a five-family yard sale at 661 Collinstown Rd., Drypond, Virginia, Thurs. Oct. 13-Sat. Oct. 15, beginning at 8 a.m. each day. There will be lots of items, including utdoor furniture, glassware, plows, books, clothes, cookware, purses, holiday decor, bedding, furniture, firearms, and hunting equipment, tools, farm equipment,old pop bottles, license plates, hub caps, deer stands, linens, television…..lots more. Come on out and shop, tell everyone you know.

There will be a Westfield community yard sale from 8 a.m. until noon both Friday and Saturday at the Westfield Ruritan Community Building at 6631 Westfield Road (HW89, across from Westfield Post Office). Bring your treasures and rent a table for $10. Bring a friend and take home a bargain or two; there will be lots of items. Available to set up on Thursday night. There will be a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Mike Bates’ medical fund. This will be held at Westfield Ruritan Community Building on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. The meal includes: Spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and drink. Donations only Also, enter raffle for a chance to win $100 in gas.

The Hacker House is open every Friday and Saturday until Halloween, as well as Sunday Oct 30.

Homecoming is scheduled at Brown Mountain Baptist Church on Sunday, Oct.16.

There will be a fall festival at Brown Mountain Baptist Church Saturday, Oct. 29. The festival starts at 8 a.m. and is over at 2 p.m. The chicken stew will be served at noon and the music will start then too. There will be craft booths and games for the kids.

Sunday, Oct. 16 is homecoming at Westfield Baptist Church. Join in a covered-dish meal after the 11 a.m. service. Drinks will be provided by the church.

Jason Brandon Blevins, age 35 of 1892 Fishers Gap Road, Galax, Virgima, passed away Saturday, Oct 1, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born August 23, 1981 in Grayson County, Virginia to James T. and Brenda Love Blevins. Jason was employed by WBRF as an on-air personality, music director and marketing/sales representative.
