Small Business Taxes will be discussed in a seminar on Nov. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Center for Public Safety, 1220 State St., Mount Airy. Small business tax reporting can be intimidating and confusing at times. Join us as accountant Jeff Foster explains the basics on trust taxes and income taxes as they relate to your business. Topics will include sales tax compliance, understanding the basics of payroll taxes and how income from various types of business entities is taxed.
How to Start a Childcare Business will be the subject of a seminar on Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in J-Building at Surry Community College, 630 S. Main St., Dobson. This seminar is best suited for anyone interested in starting a childcare business looking to find out exactly what it takes to make your business a success. Join us to learn about state regulations, staffing, resources and more.
Tax Implications for Starting a Small Business will be discussed in a workshop on Nov. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Center for Public Safety, Mount Airy. Participants will be familiarized with North Carolina tax laws that are pertinent to businesses and the responsibilities of a business owner. This seminar will cover the basics of tax compliance ranging from registering your business to withholding from employees. Information will be provided on a program for businesses that have fallen behind on sales and use, withholding and other trust taxes. Karen Bargsley will be the speaker.
Common Interactions with the Department of Revenue (DOR) will be the topic of a seminar on Nov. 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Public Safety, Mount Airy. Learn all about the common interactions a small business owner may have with the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Speaker Karen Bargsley will educate participants on how to respond to an audit, appeal a judgement, get help filing taxes and find the correct forms when working with the DOR.
How to Use LinkedIn to Grow a Small Business will be addressed in a workshop on Nov. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Yadkin Center, 1001 College Drive, Yadkinville. LinkedIn has surpassed Facebook as the preferred place for providing small business content. With over 380 million users, one cannot afford to ignore this powerful eCommerce tool. In this seminar, you will learn how to create a compelling online presence that will attract customers to your business. In addition, you will learn the five most important things to do on LinkedIn in order to be found by potential consumers and increase your overall visibility on the site. Nick Hawks will be the speaker.
