Happy belated birthday to Sarah Mitchell Rogers of Collinstown. Her birthday was Sept. 27.

The Pell Reunion was held at Laticia and Mike Humphries home Sunday, Sept. 24. Family from Virginia came and Carole Bottoms was there after having a knee replacement a few weeks ago. More th an 20 people were in attendance that were Pells or relatives of the Pells. Lots of food and fellowship were enjoyed.

There will be a fall festival hosted by Westfield Baptist Church Saturday, Nov. 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church. There will be games, hayrides, inflatables, a rock wall, candy and food. This is a family event for the community. Go have fun!

Jack and I had the pleasure of Gill and Ruth Gagnon spending a night with us. Gill and Ruth are from East Greenbush, New York.

Brown Mountain Baptist Church will have Homecoming Sunday, Oct. 15

There will be a blood drive at Nancy Reynolds Elementary School Gym Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. For an appointment, call the school at 336-351-2480.

Crossroad Church will host a captains choice tournament on Oct. 28 at Hemlock Golf Course. The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Cost for the tournament is $230 per team or $60 for an individual. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served following the tournament. Message Jay Wood or myself if you would like to participate. Homecoming at Westfield Friends will be Oct. 8. Bob and Hope Carter, medical missionaries in Kenya for more than 25 years, will be speaking. Yvette Jordan will provide special music. The missionaries have spoken to us before and they are quite good. The singer is a friend of Radford Hiatt’s.

The Westfield Friends annual Bazaar will be Saturday, Oct. 21 from 7 a.m. till noon.

A Holiday Bazaar hosted by Westfield Elementary PTO will be held Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Westfield Elementary School. Shop with local vendors and crafters. Concessions will be available for sale.

Shadow Grass (Kyser George’s Band) will be at the Historic Earle Theater in Mount Airy on Oct. 21 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are available.

Westfield Baptist Church’s Homecoming will be Sunday, Oct. 15.

There will be a Haunted Hayride on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Martin Farms & K-9 Clip Pet Grooming. the cost is $3 for adults and $1 for children. a bonfire, marshmallow roast and music will be available. Bring a chair for the bonfire. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Northern-Stokes Food Pantry. Google k-9clip.com for directions.

Hacker House will soon open. Opening weekend is Friday Oct. 6 and Saturday Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. each day, and the even will be open every Friday and Saturday in October, as well as Halloween.

There will be a Families in Need 20 Guns in 20 minutes pinto bean/hot dog supper on Nov. 11 at Old Westfield School cafeteria starting at 4 p.m. There will also be two $500 cash prizes. Meal donations to families in need. Gun tickets sold separately.

The Annual Francisco School Reunion Covered Dish Luncheon is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Francisco Volunteer Fire Station. The community building will be open at 11:30 a.m.

Before or after lunch, you might like to attend Francisco Farmfest, which is going on from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. that day. Included will be live music on the school playground sponsored by Our Communities of Northwest Stokes.

Jomeokee Marketplace, presented by The Old Barn Market, is Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be more than 100 vendors on hand at Jomeokee Park in Pinnacle.
