As part of the science, technology, engineering and math career unit the fifth graders at Pilot Elementary School have been doing several Lunch and Learn sessions.

Guest speakers with careers in those fields have come and talked with small groups of fifth graders while they eat lunch. The most recent was Ben Marion, from the King Water Treatment Plant, who spent time at the school, explaining his job to the students.

He explained to the students about the process of getting water from the Yadkin River to water spigots in homes. He talked about the different types of engineers and how much math he used daily in his job.
