In attempting a new venture, the Pilot Knob Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary seems to have found a successful fundraising format. The group hosted a port-a-pit chicken barbecue Saturday evening with proceeds to benefit the fire department. Bolstered by strong ticket presales, the scheduled three-hour fundraiser sold out in about an hour.

“This was the first time we’d done this,” noted Ladies Auxiliary President Deanna Tilley, “and we were overwhelmed by how good it went. We were very busy. After today, we’ll probably be doing more of these.”
