Vacation Bible School at Brown Mountain Baptist Church July 18.

Albion Missionary Baptist Church will be selling drinks at the Nunn Brother 17th annual Bluegrass Festival this year. The festival will be July 23-26, with special guest The Lost & Found Bluegrass Band. Come for the music.

The big rumor in Westfield is that a Dollar General is going to be built beside the fire department

Tine Collins canned 15 quarts of potatoes this passed week. Canning season is in full swing. I hope all your cans seal. Don’t you love to hear the lids pop.

Prayers for “Tubby” Quisenberry, he is the local yard maintenance guy in Francisco, he had a stroke last week.

Special prayers for Don Moss. He had shoulder reconstruction surgery last week. His surgery went very good and Don is home recuperating.

Sympathy goes to Mr. Julian McKenzie, Brooke and Leigh and all the family.

Mrs. Mary Lou McKenzie, 67, passed away at her home in the loving arms of her husband and two daughters on July 8, 2015. Mary Lou was born on Nov. 3, 1947, in Surry County. For 25 years, she served as a teacher’s assistant at Lawsonville Elementary School.
