WESTFIELD — The Westfield Ruritan Club is having a ham and egg breakfast (country ham, eggs, grits, homemade biscuits, gravy) to sponsor two children from Westfield school for their Christmas Santa on Nov. 7 at 7:30 to 10 a.m. Donations are asked to be given per person.

Tina and Dwight Collins went to Duke University last weekend with Val and Claire Marriott to watch the Blue Devils scrimmage game. They had much fun! Halloween is up and running every night, from dark until 11 p.m. at Tina and Dwight’s home. Go by and get scared!

Pilot Mountain Outreach needs toiletries and paper towels.

Brown Mountain Baptist Church will have a chicken stew and bazaar November 14th.

Brown Mountain Baptist Church is doing a Samaritan’s Purse Collection thur November. Somethings they need are pens, pencils, crayons, combs, toothbrushes, small toys, soap and stickers. Give these items to members of the church to be donated.

Board of Education recognized Mr. Nathan Rasey, Principal and all of North Stokes High School for having a 95.2 percent graduation rate which far exceeds the state average of 83.9 percent. State Superintendent Dr. June Atkinson sent a letter and certificate of appreciation.

Fount June Essick, 75, passed away on October 20, 2015. Funeral services will be on Oct 23 at New Beginning Bapt Church at 2 p.m.

Sympathy goes to Paula Stanley and the Key family.

Lucy Myrtle Haymore Key, 96, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, at her home after several years of declining health. Myrtle was born on Feb. 19, 1919, to the late David Carlie and Lula Reeves Haymore.
