BOONEVILLE — A music event at Ragapple Lassie Vineyards in two weeks will benefit the Rockford Preservation Society.
The Castaways, a popular North Carolina beach party band, will perform from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Ragapple Lassie Vineyards off of N.C. 67 in Boonville.
“Every bit of the money from the sale of the tickets will go directly to restoring historic buildings in Rockford,” said Rockford Preservation Society president Hannah Holyfield. “We are working now on our two largest buildings in the village — the early 19th-century Mark York Tavern and the W.P. Dobson Store. So we hope folks who love The Castaways and the village of Rockford will join us for this important event.”
The concert will include food trucks and craft vendors. Wine and beer will be available for purchase.
Tickets are $15 for those ages 12 and up. Proceeds will benefit the Rockford Preservation Society and its vision of restoring and opening to the public six historic properties in the village of Rockford.
Holyfield said the Aug. 19 won’t be the first time her organization has held an event at the vineyard. A decade ago Ragapple played host to a similar fundraiser.
Though Holyfield noted the preservation society has already sold some tickets to friends and online, she won’t know how things turn out until the evening of the event. She hopes 300 to 500 people will show up to enjoy the evening’s music and support the society’s restoration efforts.
The atmosphere will be family-friendly, Holyfield added, noting that admission for children under 12 is free and touting the presence of an ice cream truck.
Two shops — Rockford by the River Gallery & Gifts and Sweet Paws Home Goods — recently opened on weekends inside two of the preservation society’s smaller buildings, the 1830 Dudley Glass Store and the 1900 Post Office.
“We have been so encouraged by the public’s response to these shops,” Holyfield said. “They have added fresh energy to the village.”
Tickets for the Aug. 19 event may be purchased at the gate or online at www.rememberrockford.com or at select locations. They will be sold daily at Ragapple Lassie and on weekends at Sweet Paws Home Goods and Rockford by the River Gallery & Gifts.
Holyfield noted to be sure to bring lawn chairs and beach blankets for the outdoor concert. No coolers, outside food or alcohol will be allowed.
The vineyard is located at 3724 Ragapple Lassie Lane in Boonville.
