DOBSON — Local authorities were busy over the past week, making two drug raids on houses.
The Surry County Sheriff’s Department and the Mount Airy Police Department teamed up on both raids, and the Dobson Police took part in the second search.
A week ago just before 6 a.m. Tuesday, Surry County and Mount Airy narcotics divisions executed a search warrant on a house at 236 Orchard View Drive in the Flat Rock area.
During the search, officers allegedly located a quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana, multiple scales, multiple smoking devices for methamphetamine and marijuana, plastic baggies and rolling papers. As a result of the investigation and the search, several charges were filed against two people residing at the location.
Randall Terrell Hiatt, 51, was arrested on the scene. He has been charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamine; felony possession of methamphetamine; felony possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana; felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances; misdemeanor possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Hiatt received a $20,000 secured bond.
According to the state Department of Public Safety database, Randall Hiatt was convicted in 2010 of three counts of attempted trafficking of a schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a suspended sentence and probation.
Santana Yvonne Hiatt, 31, was not at the residence at the time of the raid. She has outstanding warrants for her arrest which came from the investigation and search warrant. Those warrants were felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Three days later, three agencies came together to serve an early-morning search warrant at 240 S. Crutchfield St. in Dobson.
Executing that search on Apartment 24 in the early morning, officers arrested two suspects on multiple drug-related charges: Penny Rose Holmes, 33, and Ethen Alan France, 23.
The sheriff’s office said Holmes was charged with one count of trafficking opium and one count of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a Schedule II controlled substance. Examples of a Schedule II drug would be Oxycontin, Percocet, Demerol, methadone or codeine.
She is also facing one count of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana, one count of maintaining a drug dwelling, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
The sheriff’s office said her bond was set at $75,000 secured with a court date on Aug. 23.
France has been charged with one count of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana, one count of maintaining a drug dwelling and one count possession of drug paraphernalia.
His bond was set at $7,500, and he also has a court date Aug. 23.
