The Armfield Civic and Recreation Center will be seeking to provide a little relief from spring fever by inviting local runners to lace up their favorite footwear and join in the fourth annual ACC 10K Spring Run.
The event is scheduled to take place on April 15 at the center.
Early registration is now underway for the event, continuing until April 1 at a cost of $30. Advance registration will be available from April 1 – April 14 at a cost of $35. Day-of-race registration will be $40 and will begin at 7 a.m.
The run is scheduled to get underway at 8 am. Post-race medals will be awarded to the top overall male and female finisher as well as to top male and female finishers in each age group.
The run will begin and end at the center. In between, participants will navigate a 6.2 mile course that will carry them through downtown Pilot Mountain.
“The hills make this a more challenging course,” noted Armfield Center Fitness Director Magan Vogler. “We’ve had a lot of people come from out of town to take part in this. And they like it enough to keep coming back.”
“We have runners who use this as a workout when they’re preparing for a half-marathon or a marathon,” she continued. “They enjoy the challenge the hills provide. But we also have some who walk the course. This appeals to a wide variety of runners.”
Participants may register at the Armfield Center or online at www.runsignup.com by searching ACC 10K.
According to Vogler, proceeds from the day will help to support the center’s youth and fitness programs.
“We’re a non-profit,” she explained. “We rely on activities such as this. People like and enjoy this and it has done well for us before. We’re looking forward to a good day.”
