The atmosphere was nostalgically festive Saturday night as New Kingdom Ministries hosted a 50s-style sock hop in the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center.

The community event, planned in conjunction with the downtown cruise-in, was open to all. The setting, songs and attire of those hosting combined to turn back the clock for dancing, food and fellowship.

“We wanted to encourage the community to take part and enjoy this and to show them that Christians can have a good time,” noted Karie Adams, one of the evening’s organizers. “We want to be a part of the community,” added Pastor Brady Wright. “This gave us a chance to invite them in where everyone could relax and enjoy each other’s company.”
