The East Surry JROTC Raider team traveled to Harnett Central on March 12 to compete in their annual raider meet. They did very well this weekend and represented the East Surry JROTC program to the best of their abilities. We are all extremely proud of them and their accomplishments. The East Surry A team finished first place overall and the East Surry B team finished fifth place overall. They also received many different awards for the individual events of the competition.

All three teams competed in a total of five events. Which consisted of: the physical fitness test, the litter carry, the rope bridge, the fireman’s carry and the 5k road march. The East Surry A team placed first in the Modified Army Physical Fitness Test, second in the Litter Carry, first in the Rope Bridge, third in the Fireman’s Carry, and third in the 5k Road March. All three teams did extremely well in all aspects of the competition, but we are exceptionally proud that all three teams brought home Rope Bridge trophies. With A team placing first with a time of 1:16:03, B team placing second with a time of 1:42:09, and C team placing third with a time of 1:43:12 they brought home all three trophies for that category.

We also had some individuals who did particularly well in the Physical Fitness Test. Each of them brought home a medal of his/her own to accredit their accomplishments. Bradley Snow placed second place for the top male scores for the PT test. He had an overall score of 290 points out of 300. Bradley received 100 points for the pushy category, 100 points for the sit up category, and 90 points for the mile run making for a total of 290 points. We had another cadet who also did exceedingly well in the PT test. Ashlyn Nagel placed first place for the top female cadet scores. She had an overall score of 290 points out of 300. Ashlyn received 100 points for the push up category, 95 points for the sit up category, and 95 points for the mile run making for her total of 290 points.

The East Surry JROTC Raider Team had an astounding weekend at the Harnett Central Raider Meet and will be continuing on to the Magna Vista Raider Meet on Saturday, March, 19th. We are very proud of them and know that they will do their best this upcoming weekend.
