PILOT MOUNTAIN — Recently, three businesses have relocated in Pilot Mountain. The Pilot Mountain Area Business Associates celebrated with a ribbon cutting for each business last week.

Town officials along with members of the Pilot Mountain Area Business Association were given tours of each new facility.

Attending his first ribbon cutting ceremony as commissioner, Evan Cockerham said, “It was neat just to be a part of that, to be able to welcome new businesses into the community.”

Cockerham explained each business made changes aesthetically, “each business really paid attention to details.”

Cockerham also noted that during the tour one spa offered a Airbnb package, where you can stay the night in an upstairs room. Cockerham felt as though this was a unique addition to the Pilot Mountain community.

Tina Hopkins owner of Soul Fire Therapeutic Touch, one of the three businesses celebrated during the ribbon cutting ceremonies, described her experience as welcoming.

“We did a total revamp, ” explained Hopkins. “We now have parking in the front of the building as well as a store front.” Previously, Hopkins stated her business was located to the back side of a local building.

“It’s important for people to know where we are and what we do,” said Hopkins. Hopkins explained the entire experience was “pretty cool.”

“I think it helps bring people around and helped to open the doors to those in the community,” added Hopkins.

Hopkins also serves as President of Pilot Mountain Area Business Association. Hopkins explained she wants business owners in the community to know they are available to help.

“We want to help others feel welcomed and to get a firm grasp on the fact that we have the resources to help.”

Explaining, a lot of times businesses will open in the community and someone will ride by and notice there’s a new business but that’s not enough.

“We help to point these businesses in the right direction. We want them to know what resources are available to them to get their name out there,” said Hopkins.

The other two businesses part of the ribbon-cutting and touring event were The Art of Massage at 223 East Main Street and BB’s Closet at 114 East Main Street.
