Fugitive apprehended in Pilot Mountain

PILOT MOUNTAIN — A Patrick County woman was arrested on child abuse charges recently by the Pilot Mountain Police Department.

On March 1, Brittany Denice Hill, 27, a fugitive from the state of Virginia, was arrested at 105 West Main Street, Sopper’s Restaurant, after an anonymous tip was called into the police department, according to Police Chief Darryl Bottoms.

Hill is charged with child abuse in the state of Virginia and charged with fleeing from justice. The crime allegedly occurred on March 1, in Patrick County, according to police records.

Officials from the Patrick County Sheriff’s did not return phone calls to elaborate on child abuse charges.

According to police records, Hill was issued an order for arrest in Surry County for failure to appear on charges of driving while license revoked and misdemeanor charge of stolen goods on July 25, 2016.

Another order for arrest was issued for Hill, for failure to appear on misdemeanor charge of shoplifting and concealment of goods on July 12, 2016.

Hill was also issued an order for arrest on Jan. 3, after alleged failure to pay court costs and fines on a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon, in Surry County.

Hill was released from Surry County Jail on March 2 with a $3,795 secured bond
