Sure hope all mothers had a wonderful day Sunday. As for me, it was the best one I’ve had in about seven years. I thank the Lord for it.
Phyllis Hill and I were invited to a Mother’s Day program on Sunday afternoon to a church in Mount Airy. I’ve never been to a service like it, and really enjoyed it very much.
Shoals Baptist gave each mother a cute cloth bag that read “Mothers are special.” They were decorated beautifully and trimmed in pink. All mothers also received an ink pen, in colors of pink and white, that said “Mothers are the heart of the family.” They were truly appreciated by all. Flowers were also placed in the church honoring all mothers and were later given, or sent, to Lib Marion. A beautiful poem was read by Carolyn Sage in memory of her dear mother, Mary Ann Scott.
The pinto bean, cornbread and hot dog supper for the Honduras mission trip, which will take place in July, was a great success. They will be having a spaghetti supper coming up soon.
Went in Boles Grocery recently and had a nice talk with Vicki Gordon. Of course, she only remembers the little mischievous things that happened years and years ago at Armtex. Nothing bad, just something really funny at the time. (Right, Vicki?) Bro. Chester and Kathy Wall have spent three wonderful weeks on vacation, resting up. Of course, they travel back for church on Sundays. They’ve really had fun down next to the beach, staying in their camper in the campground.
Remember Ralph Marion, Wendell Sechrist, Ruby Harvey, Nedra Shelton, Pat Moore, Van Tucker, Velma Lee and Billy Lane, Brenda Allen who recently had another back surgery, Bob and Ruth Allen, Sam Scott, Gladys Livengood and family, Lib Marion, Red and Ann Cheek, Vonda Ray, Nancy McRoberts, Sammy Cromer, Ras and Barbara Spainhower, Colleen Wall and David, Ozell Scott, Dorothy Brim, Pam Stowers, Betty Jackson, Janie Ashburn, John Johnson, Denise McRoberts, the Rev. Let’s remember all these and all other sick, elderly and shut-ins, all men and women in the military, all our government leaders, and all our missionaries at home and abroad in our daily prayers.
Mike and Peggy Wall of Phoenix, Ariz., visited his mother and brother, David, over the weekend. They were really happy to see him.
Tom, Marisa and Trevor Bryant came up from Apex and enjoyed spending Mother’s Day with their parents.
