It was Skills and Drills Day at Jack Palmer Field Saturday as the East Surry Little League softball program graded a large turnout of young ladies on their catching, throwing and hitting skills. Players in the Majors (9-12-years-old) division took the field in the morning, while the Minor Leaguers (ages 6-8) followed in the afternoon. About 40 girls took part in the Minor division Skills and Drills. Player evaluations will be used to divide teams for a competitive season. ESLL opening day is scheduled for April 10. The afternoon will feature a full schedule of games in all divisions along with a port-a-pit barbecue and special guests chosen from former ESLL players.
