Sound like fun? Area youths can enjoy this and much more at a week of Summer 4-H Camp. The North Carolina 4-H Camp Program offers a camp for every interest. The 4-H camping program allows young people to get away from home and enjoy swimming, campfires, outdoor living skills and challenging leadership experiences.
4-H camps take place at the following 4-H Centers across North Carolina: Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center in Rockingham County, Millstone 4-H Center in Richmond County, Sertoma 4-H Center in Stokes County and the Eastern 4-H Environmental Education Center in Tyrrell County. 4-H Centers are among the 25 percent of youth camps nationwide which have received American Camping Association (ACA) accreditation.
This summer, Surry County 4-H is traveling to Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Education Center in Reidsville. This camping opportunity will be provided for all campers attending during the week of June 13-18. During this one-week camp experience, campers will have an opportunity to swim, canoe, work on crafts, learn about nature, explore outdoor living skills and tackle rope courses by day, as well as learn about different cultures, create campfire programs, share skits and talents and learn games and dances by night. For more information about this camp opportunity and how to receive a reduced rate, call 401-8025 by Feb. 1.
4-H camp officials are now seeking summer camp staff. For more information about employment opportunities, visit www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/fouh/centers for individual camp contact information.
