PILOT MOUNTAIN — The South Westfield Ruritan Club will host a benefit hot dog and ice cream supper on Saturday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the South Westfield Community Building on Cook School Road.
All proceeds from the donations-only meal will go toward helping one of their own. The evening will benefit community resident Cheryl Cook Bennett with help for medical expenses incurred during a recent illness.
“That’s our mission,” explained club representative Fred Venable, “to help folks in our own community when there’s a need. It can be different kinds of need, anything from medical expenses to helping build a handicap ramp. But our money is raised and spent here in our community.
“And when the need merits it,” he noted, “we’ll host something like this supper to help raise money. Everybody enjoys getting together and sharing a meal and some fellowship. And our community is always good to respond and come out for a neighbor with need.”
