League play will be available for youngsters between the ages of 4 and 17 at a cost of $40 per participant. Maximum payment will be limited to $100 per family and scholarships will be available as needed.
Play is scheduled to begin in early to mid-March, with older youths having a slightly longer season. Seasons will be drawing to a close around the end of May. Depending upon age, youths will average playing about 10 games during the season.
All games will be held at either the Armfield Center soccer field, under long-term lease by the PMYSA, or at Pinnacle Elementary School.
“The spring season has really turned out to be a popular addition,” PMYSA President Kerry Smith said. “We began this as something for our kids who were wanting additional time to play after our fall program. But it has grown into something that is equal to the fall. We’ve been very excited by the growth we’ve seen and we hope and anticipate that to continue.”
The group’s fall program saw an all time high in participation last year, with more than 200 area youngsters registered. The growth has prompted the program to pursue additional space. A fundraiser will be launched later this year with proceeds to address either the addition of a new field or improvements to the current one.
“This is all 100 percent volunteers,” Smith noted, “from our board to our coaches to our parent volunteers. Without all of their help and that of our sponsors, we could never have enjoyed the success we’ve had.”
