Each year Pilot Mountain Elementary holds a Pirate Food Drive to benefit the Pilot Mountain Outreach Center. Food donated to the Outreach Center benefits families within the local community. This year the school-wide goal was 5,000 items.

The school kicked off the food drive at Starlight Skate Center with a Turkey Trot Skate Night. This event was sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization.

Students who attended and brought canned food to the event were given a homework pass. The food drive officially began on Nov. 20 and will continue until Dec. 12. Students are looking forward to celebrating a successful food drive by having a dance party. Also, the class that has the largest number of donations will have a pizza party and get to throw a pie in the face of any adult at Pilot Mountain Elementary.
