The Westfield Ruritan Club is sponsoring a country ham breakfast Saturday from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Westfield Community Building, 6631 Westfield Road/N.C. 89, across from the Westfield Post Office. The meal will include country ham, gravy, eggs, grits, apples, homemade biscuits, and drinks. Donations only.

Youngsters from Stokes and Surry counties have a machine pitch ball tournament at the old Westfield ball field next Saturday. Everyone come out and support all the kids.

A bear was sited on Pell Road in Westfield this week.

Martha Moorefield’s great-granddaughter and Harvey Wall’s granddaughter, Courtney Wall, graduated from North Surry High School. Congratulations, Courtney.

There was a motorcycle accident in Westfield on N.C. 89 in front of the Westfield Baptist Church. AirCare was brought in to transport the injured rider to Baptist Hospital for treatment. I understand this was late afternoon June 11.

Congratulations on your retirement Tony Joyce. Mr. Tony Joyce retired from North Stokes High School and the Stokes County School System this June.

Stoney Ridge Baptist Church will honor our special men on Father’s Day Sunday. During our worship hour at 11 a.m. on June 27, Stoney Ridge Baptist Church will host the International Campus Ministries of the Triad, Inc. group from Wake Forest University. We will meet the group in Hanging Rock State Park for a hamburger and hot dog lunch. After our lunch fellowship, we will take the group hiking in the park.

Stoney Ridge Baptist Church will present Vacation Bible School: Journey Off The Map, July 11. Registration begins at 9 a.m. We will present our program from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our annual cookout will follow the last Worship Rally of the day. Come and join us for a fast-paced celebration of the Creator that loves each of us.

Vacation Bible School begins July 6 at Westfield Baptist Church.
