Siloam News

Mary. Who was Mary? She was Mary Elizabeth Miller. She was the wife of Junior Miller. She was in my Sunday school class at Siloam Baptist Church. She was a lady, a friend to so many people. She helped to make our class a success. She shared, she read, she volunteered. She and Junior were expert gardeners. Others enjoyed their produce. She was too young to die.

I enjoyed many telephone conversations with Mary. Many senior trips with the church group and lots of her good recipes. She was an excellent cook. She will be missed.

Our church attendance was up on Sunday. Maybe we will soon get back to one hundred.

Carol Flippin was host at her home on Sunday for the Flippin reunion. They had good attendance and lots of good food.

Peggy Smith was able to come to church on Sunday. She has had two surgeries on her broken arm. She should soon be able to get those weeds out of her flowers.

The Siloam Extension Club met last Monday night for the June meeting. We are making plans for the Fourth event on the “Square” in Siloam. Hope you will join us.

On Friday, I attended Awards Day at Surry Central High School. I presented the Extension Club Scholarship and the Lori Nell Smith Scholarship to Julie Wall of our community.
