PILOT MOUNTAIN — East Surry High School’s basketball, football, softball and volleyball programs will all be hosting summer camps during the month of July.
All of East Surry’s camps are open to all youth, and not just those who attend schools in the East Surry school district. Anyone interested in attending any camp may pick up a brochure in the front office of the school, on the East Surry High School website, or by emailing the coach hosting the camp.
The camps are as follows:
Basketball (July 10-12)
Open to all rising second- through eighth-graders, both male and female.
Camp runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Instruction will include individual and teamwork drills, as well as 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games. There will be awards for the free throw champion, the hot shot champion, three-point champion, Cardinal Hustler and Camper of the Week.
Instructions will include both East Surry head basketball coaches, Caleb Gilley and Jason Anderson, along with other East Surry coaches and current players.
The cost of the camp is $75 and includes a camp t-shirt.

Elite Softball Academy (July 15 and 22)
Two one-day sessions, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day, hosted by East Surry softball coaches and current players.
Campers may attend both sessions, but it is not mandatory. One session is $30 or you can sign up for both at a cost of $50. Each camper will receive a t-shirt.

Football (July 24-25)
This two-day camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day and is open to all boys and girls from the ages of 8 to 13.
Instructors include East Surry head coach David Diamont, along with current Cardinal assistant coaches and players.

Volleyball (July 26-28)
East Surry’s last summer sports camp runs for three days, from 8 a.m. to noon each day.
Early registration is still available for this camp through July 14 for $40, and will be $50 after that date. Each camper will receive a t-shirt. The camp is open to any girl or boy from rising first-graders through eighth-graders. Instructors will include ESHS head coach Caleb Gilley and another Lady Cardinal coaches and players.
Three volleyball courts will be active during the camp, so that players of different age groups and skill levels can participate at their own pace.
The camp will show and teach skills for serving, passing, hitting, setting and blocking. After skills are taught, games will be incorporated into them. There will be competitions that lead to awards and a school-wide scavenger hunt.
