WESTFIELD — Dear friends are cordially invited to Homecoming at Westfield Friends Meeting on October 11 at 11 a.m. The theme this year is “Use Your Talents for the Lord.” There will be a video presentation featuring many from our congregation serving God with their talents. Our Pastor, Linda Anderson, will bring the message. Radford and Sue Hiatt’s daughters, Sandy Railey, Pam Cody and Gina Brown will share their beautiful voices in song. Lunch will follow the service. We look forward to seeing you!

New Grandparents in Westfield! Lucy Alice Holt-Newman was born October 3 at 6:24 p.m. She is 8 pounds and 21 1/2 inches long. Thomas Wayne and Bristol Newman of Pinnacle are the proud parents. Lucy has a big brother, Eddie Wayne Lawson-Newman, that is 2 years old. Grandparents are Troy and Tonia Wilson of Westfield and Roger and Ann Holt of Pinnacle.

Great Grandparents are Leo and Fronia Gravely of Mount Airy, Haywood and Alice Holt in Heaven, Eddie and Laura Lawson in Heaven, and Wade and Margaret Queen of Pinnacle. Lucy shares a birthday with her second cousin Amanda Adams Gordon of King.

Irene and Bob Poland of Roanoke, VA and Jenny and James Jessup of Johnson City, TN attended the Pell reunion at Westfield Friends Meeting.

Jenny and James Jessup have gone to Minnesota to visit their son Jake. Jake goes to college at the University of Minnesota. He is getting his masters degree in theatre.

Latricia and Mike Humphries enjoyed the concert at Reynolds auditorium “Sounds of the 70’s”

Janice Lawson met Robin N. Adkins for lunch in Pilot this past week. They are very dear friends and had a great time being together.

Bazaar at Westfield Friends Meeting is October 17 from 7 a.m to noon. Mary Nunn cooks a mouth watering biscuit. There will be breakfast, crafts, produce, baked goods, yard-sale items, cookbooks and a Quilt Raffle.

The Rock House Ruritan Club is sponsoring a turkey shoot every Saturday night. The doors will open at 5 p.m with the shooting starting at 6 p.m.

Stoney Ridge Baptist Church will be having a Fall Chicken Stew on October 24 at 5 p.m. Come out and enjoy this time of good food, family fun and Christian fellowship. Stoney Ridge Baptist Church will hold our Fall Revival from October 25 through October 28. The Sunday service is at 6 p.m. and the Monday through Wednesday services start at 7 p.m. Our guest evangelist will be pastor and author Dr. Daniel Merritt. Special music will be featured during each service. Bring some friends and let the Lord revive us!

Surry Quaker Men will be having an auction and chicken stew on October 24 at 4 p.m. This will be at Pine Hill Friends Meeting fellowship hall on 3968 NC Highway 268 in Ararat. All proceeds will benefit backpack food program within Surry County schools.

Pilot Mountain Outreach needs toiletries and paper towels.

Homecoming at Brown Mountain Baptist Church October 18.

Homecoming at Brims Grove Baptist Church will be October 11. Dallas Prestwood, an intern pastor at Brims Grove in the late 70’s, will deliver the sermon. All are welcome.

Fall Festival at Westfield Baptist Church on October 10th from 5 to 7 p.m. $1 hot dog supper. Also games, prizes and candy.

Homecoming at Westfield Baptist Church October 18. Come share in a covered-dish meal after the 11 a.m. service. Westfield Baptist Church will have Revival Services October 18 through October 21 at 7 p.m. each evening. Nursery care will be available.

Brown Mountain Baptist Church is doing a Samaritan’s Purse Collection through November. Somethings they need are pens, pencils, crayons, combs, toothbrushes, small toys, soap and stickers. Give these items to members of the church to be donated.

Hacker House is now open every Fri and Sat night in October at 8 p.m.

Happy 64th Anniversary to Reid and Avolene Durham. October 4 was their wedding celebration!

Happy Anniversary to Lisa and Jerry Chilton and Tommy and Anne Collins!

Happy Birthday to Mrs. Gentry! Mary Etta Gentry celebrated her 100th birthday on October 6. Her son, Hughes, and his wife, Sue, are good friends of mine.
