Luke Samuel Cartwright, the son of Joey and Melinda Cartwright and Grandson of Jim and Elsie Cartwright and George and Rachel Blevins, received his Eagle Scout during the Court of Honor ceremony Sunday, August 21 at the Troop 545 Scout Hut.

The Stokes Stomp is at Moratock Park in Danbury on Saturday, Sept. 10-11. The Not Brothers Band will be playing on Saturday from noon to 12:45 p.m.

A revival is scheduled for Westfield Friends Meeting at 7 p.m each Thursday evening beginning Sept. 8. The speakers, by date, are: Sept. 8, Steve Wood, pastor of Forsyth Friends; Sept. 15, Posie Simmons; Sept. 22, Ricky Rogers; Sept. 29, Linda Anderson.

The North Stokes Class of 1971 will hold its 45th year reunion on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m at the Doug Stanley Farm in Sandy Ridge. A meal will served along with live entertainment by Acoustic Harmonies from Mount Airy. Thje cost is $30 per couple. Call Barbara Hylton Hazlewood for more information at 276-694-6874. The deadline to have pay is Aug. 30.

Rock House Ruritan Club will have a benefit for the Nancy Reynolds School on Sept. 10, including a supper and auction. If you have anything you would like to donate please call a Ruritan member they will pick it up or you can drop off Thursday, Aug. 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or Sept. 1 from 6:30 p.m to 8 p.m. at the Ruritan Club.

Elsie Cartwright, Janice Lawson, Robin Atkins, Nancy Cook and I went to the Hanesbrand Sample Sale last Tuesday. The sale was in Winston-Salem at the fairgrounds in the Education Building. Elsie had other obligations so Janice, Robin, Nancy and I took a ladies all day shopping spree. We did stop for lunch at the Dairi-O in King.

Jack had a buddy from the Air Force visit this past weekend. Gill and Ruth Gagnon from East Greenbush, N.Y. spent a few days at our house. We took them on a three-city tour to Winston-Salem, Pilot Mountain and Mount Airy. The men had a great time talking about their Air Force days.

The Francisco Farmfest is coming Saturday, Oct. 1. The festival will celebrate the people, the arts and traditions, and the agricultural heritage of the area.

Get some ice cream, lots of ice cream, and a piece of cake and while you are eating wish Mama Jennie a Happy Birthday in Heaven. She wrote the Westfield News for the Pilot Paper for many years.

Mr. Terry Mitchell Joyce, age 67, of Pilot Mountain, died Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1949 in Surry County to the late Moir and Irene Jessup Joyce. Mr. Joyce owned and operated Terry Joyce Exxon in Pilot Mountain and was of the Baptist Faith.
