SILOAM — Folks, I am sorry that the Siloam News has been missing for the past two weeks. The writer has been ill. I picked up some sort of a bug when we went to Harrisburg for Christmas and simply can’t get to feeling like I should. Papa Bob is the only one in the family who did not get sick. I am still weak, but hope to be feeling better soon.
We had a quiet Christmas after coming home. Finally got the tree down, ate soup for days and rested a lot!
Jewel Faw, our pastor’s wife had surgery on Tuesday. We wish for her the best.
Folks, please remember Ms. Bobbie Hall in your prayers. She is very ill at this time.
The congregation at Poplar Springs Baptist Church recently voted on a new pastor. Rev. Mickey Brooks has assumed his duties.
On Thursdays the writer and my neighbor, Fay Riddle, go to Central Continuing Care to visit with her husband, Jimmy and to volunteer at Bingo. Well, after Bingo last Thursday we stopped at a grocery store, as we sometimes do and as we were going to the car Fay tripped and fell. In an instant a very nice lady was there! She checked Fay for injuries and was joined by a young man named Nick, who gave us his full support, then another young lady who stood by. While they checked on Fay, I put our groceries in the car.
Fay seemed to be hurt in several places, so Nick suggested I take her to the hospital, and he offered to go with us. He was a nice young man! I assured him that I would take her to Northern Surry.
She had bruises and cuts, aches and pains, but no broken bones. Her son, Chuck came to drive her home and they sent me home a bit earlier. Fay and the writer both want to thank the ladies and Nick who helped us in the parking lot. Still some nice folks in the community. Thanks!
