The Pilot Mountain Civic Club is poised to host its annual golf tournament for charity on Friday.

The tournament will be held at the Pilot Knob Park Country Club and will start with a shotgun tee-off at 1 p.m. Before the tournament officially starts, lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

The Pilot Mountain Civic Club has been holding the tournament for more than 10 years and it is one of two major fundraising events that the club holds throughout the year, with the other being Mayfest.

Forty-four players are expected to play in the tournament.

“We are looking for a good turnout for our annual Pilot Mountain Civic Club golf tournament,” Meigs Needham, of the Pilot Mountain Civic Club, said. “It is going to be a beautiful day and we hope that everyone comes out and enjoys themselves.”

All proceeds for the event are distributed directly back into the community for such things as scholarships to Surry Community College, area schools, local law enforcement and fire protection, and foster care programs.

“We would to thank the players in the tournament and hole sponsors for the generous donations,” Needham said.

To participate in the tournament, registration is $50 per player or $200 per team, with teams consisting of four individuals.

Hole sponsorship for the tournament is $100 or $300 for a gold sponsorship.

The winning team will receive $200 in cash.
