On Saturday, Nov. 18, everyone is invited to Westfield Friends Meeting to the Thanksgiving community meal/celebration beginning at 5 p.m. with music provided by the group Full Circle.

Trinity Baptist Church is having revival all this week at 7 p.m. with Darrell Cox preaching. There will be special singing each night.

VFW Auxiliary to Post 9436 is selling nuts. Anyone that would like to purchase beautiful large pecans may call Margie Nichols at 336-351-3413. Items are pecan halves and pieces.

Sammy and Janice Lawson met their daughters family at Cracker Barrel in Janesville for breakfast this past Sunday. Tracey’s family lives in Old Richmond Hill, Georgia. Sunday, Nov. 12 was Sammy and Janice’s 46th wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary to you!

Bernice Handy of Westfield passed away Friday, Nov.10. Sympathy goes to the Handy family.

Nancy Hooker is recovering from hip replacement surgery. Prayers for Nancy.

Whitney Humphries had a chicken stew for family, friends and neighbors at her home in Walnut Cove last Saturday evening. Janice Lawson said the hot stew and coffee was very good on that cold dark night. James and Jenny Jessup came all the way from Tennessee to be with family.

Steve and Donna Chilton would like to see you at Mount Pilot County Store Holiday Open House on Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Kyser George will be playing in the band ShadowGrass at Muddy Creek Cafe on Bethania Road Dec. 1.

Elizabeth Joyce will turn 90 years young on Nov. 18. Everyone wish her a very Happy Birthday.

The Rock House Ruritan club is having vendor sale on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There is a Christmas One-Stop Shop Fundraiser planned for Saturday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Calvary Christian School in King. Christmas Shop till you drop and support the high school seniors.

On The Sunday following Thanksgiving Day the service at Brown Mountain Baptist Church will be “The Hanging of the Greens.” Green represents renewal, new life, freshness, and rebirth. Plants such as pine, fir, holly, ivy, and mistletoe are called evergreens because they do not die. Advent is the season of preparation for the ever-coming Christ, God’s gift to us of renewal and transformation. Come see “The Hanging of the Greens” Sunday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m.

Brown Mountain Baptist Church will present a Christmas Play on Sunday, Dec. 10. Keep that in mind.
