Pilot Knob Volunteer Fire Department holding chicken dinner fundraiser on Saturday

Organizers hopeful of a large turnout to annual event

The Pilot Knob Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will host a port-a-pit chicken fundraiser at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, with proceeds to benefit the fire department.

Meals will be available from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. or until sold out. The meals will consist of a ½ chicken served with green beans, mashed potatoes, a roll and a dessert. Plates will be $10 each.

A drive-through service will be offered, with orders taken at the curb and meals delivered to each car. Dine-in meals will also be available.

“These usually do well,” Auxiliary President Kara Richardson said. “We’d like to have a really good day. We’re hoping to sell 700 plates.”

According to Richardson, proceeds from the day will go toward helping firefighters get needed equipment and materials in order to better serve their community.

“We want to invite everyone to come by for a really good meal while taking advantage of an opportunity to support their fire department,” Richardson said,

The church is located at 210 West Marion Street, off Key Street in Pilot Mountain.
