Gardens are growing inwestfield — lots of yellow squash, zucchini and cucumbers coming. All of us my be canning green beans soon! The corn is looking great in the garden and the cabbage is ready to cut. A few blueberries are getting ripe. Oh what good eating!

Brown Mountain Baptist Church will hold a blood drive Friday, June 30 from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please sign up to give blood. Call 336-403-5044 to inform Pastor Eddie Carter.

Westfield Baptist Church Vacation Bible School will be held Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 14 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 .pm. This VBS is for children entering kindergarten through fifth grade.

On June 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Brown Mountain Baptist Church will have a lemonade stand set up in the Church’s parking lot. The price of a cup of lemonade is a non-perishable food item or a monetary donation. All food items and monetary donations will be taken to the Northern Stokes Food Pantry. Please come out and help show your support. Thanks!

Vacation Bible School is July 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brown Mountain. Lunch will be provided.

Sympathy goes to the Dunkley family. Mrs. Alma Owens Dunkley, age 95, departed this life on June 10, 2017 at her home.
