DANBURY — The Stokes County Arts Council will feature local artist Justine Luzwick with an opening reception on June 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Apple Gallery, 500 N. Main St., Danbury.

A graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in art education, Luzwick is the art teacher at Piney Grove Middle School. She displays her passion for nature through her paintings which are mainly acrylic on canvas, but has experimented with Sharpies on paper more recently. She enjoys working with different art forms, but is most comfortable with a brush in her hand. She enjoys the complexity of acrylics on canvas and its ability to be forgiving. She finds a huge contrast between her paintings and the Sharpie art, which must be more precise with the fine details. Luzwick shares her love of nature with her students and her family through art. She also enjoys competitive running and gardening.

Luzwick’s works of art will be featured in the gallery June 25 through July 28. The opening reception and gallery exhibit is free to the public. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call the Stokes County Arts Council at 336-593-8159 or visit us on our website at stokesarts.org.
